Tate x Bert. Digital, campaigns & content

For over eight years we’ve created films and animated content for Tate exhibitions. We’ve brought works from the world’s most celebrated artists and movements, including Turner, Warhol, the Bauhaus and Picasso, to both big and small screens.

Our recent Tate Britain campaign for Van Gogh & Britain was even more painstaking than most. Through cocreation we developed a concept requiring the digital removal of each of Van Gogh’s original brush-strokes, effectively stripping the works back to canvas. This process was then reversed to recreate Van Gogh’s iconic painterly style in rich animated form. 

Hatch x Bert. Name & Brand ID

We created the name and identity for Hatch, the most striking recent addition to Manchester’s thriving cultural scene. Hunkered down under the city’s iconic Mancunian Way flyover, it’s home to some of the most exciting and creative independent businesses in the city.

It’s a globally-inspired foodie haven with an authentic, Mancunian flavour, where new twists on proven concepts are served-up through street-side kiosks. Hatch supports brand new ideas too, helping entrepreneurial fashion, art, craft and retail start-ups scale quickly in a safe environment. 

Adidas x Bert. Global campaigns & content

Our ongoing partnership with adidas is a truly global venture, spanning 2,700 global stores and 16 countries. In five years of working together we’ve created product names, visual identity systems, and cocreated and delivered multi-channel, multi-brand retail campaigns.

The latest project brought a fresh challenge, requiring remote cocreation with the global retail team in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Using advanced online tools we immersed adidas’ in-house team in the creative process, co-creating films and digital content featuring Lionel Messi and Damian Lillard which were aired to a global internal audience earlier this year.

Bruntwood, leading UK commercial property group, selected us as its top tier branding agency in late 2017.

We’ve covered incredible ground since then, helping guide Bruntwood through an unprecedented period of change, one of the most exciting in the company’s rich history.

Federal

How much do you love your visual ID? We’re proud to have created designs over the years that people have clamoured to wear and show off both in and outside of work. But this takes logo love into a whole new stratosphere… Fed owner Claudio Ribeiro has had our ID tattooed onto his forearm.

Manchester City

We created a series of digital interactive experiences for Manchester City’s Etihad Campus. The Campus comprises the Etihad Stadium, the Academy Stadium, City Football Academy (CFA) training facility and the Club’s headquarters, and is amongst the world’s leading elite sports facilities.

Co Creation

It takes more than a global pandemic to shake our belief systems. Rather than abandon our collaborative principles, we’ve doubled down and delivered a series of brands and campaigns using CoCreation during lockdown.

We’ve partnered again with Longitude, part of the Financial Times Group, this Summer to create a visual identity that wraps around the new company narrative. Our work was realised on the new Longitude website, and across core campaigns and materials.

Women and minority ethnic communities account for just 20% of the global science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) workforce. Our content for the EY STEM Tribe programme aims to address this underrepresentation, inspiring girls in the US and India to consider a career in STEM. 

Circle Square

Billed as the potential innovation capital of Europe, Manchester’s Innovation District is located south of the city centre & is home to a unique concentration of knowledge, business & cultural assets. 

We created the Innovation District’s look book, helping attract multi-billion pound investment and some of the world’s biggest companies and retailers to Oxford Road.

Thinc

More than a name, Thinc is the abbreviation of The Intelligent Company, a belief system that underpins an entirely reimagined company narrative. Our rebrand for the UK’s leading IT partner for SMEs and Scale-Ups centres around a compelling narrative that is driving a business and brand to new heights.

Public Spirit

The Public Spirit is an energetic spirits brand looking to shake up the rum industry. We CoCreated the narrative and visual identity, along with product packaging and launch materials using some snazzy virtual CoCreation tools this Summer.

Chicago and Birmingham UK based sales-i selected Bert as its branding agency for its rebrand and relaunch of its Hubspot digital platforms and automation systems. The result is a new global identity and website capable of driving over 400 complex Hubspot automations.

Clear Architects

We were commissioned by Essex based Clear Architects to create its website. We used cocreation to update Clear’s identity and create materials that reflect the studio’s commitment to creating stunning, high-end architecture that successfully balances function and form.

BBC x Bert. Name & Brand ID

The BBC appointed us as its branding agency for the launch of its new online gaming platform and division. 

Our naming team worked with the BBC’s in-house gaming team to create ‘Open Games’. We created a narrative that simplified the premise, explaining that Open Games connects the world’s leading games developers with some of the best loved media brands on the planet. 

CoCreating from Media City, the narrative was brought to life in rich digital form. The animated logo, embodying the Open Games portal, creates a unique way for multiple brands to share the limelight on communications. The ‘O’ dynamically wraps around the content within, resulting in a new brand capable of pairing with globally recognised media brands including Match of the Day, Top Gear and The Octonauts. 

Karl Hughes, BBC Open Games Programme Lead, said “Of all the partners we’ve worked with since moving to Manchester, Bert’s process and the resulting brand places them right at the top.”

Federal x Bert. Brand research, strategy & brand ID

With a new opening on the horizon, Federal approached us to help understand and amplify the magic of its original Northern Quarter store.

Always prepared to cover the hard yards, our strategy team had the unenviable task of consuming plates of halloumi & ‘shrooms and cheddar corn fritters (washed down with bottomless long-blacks) whilst chatting with Federal clientele. 

The caffeine and warmth of the welcome helped us quickly uncover Federal’s formula. We then created a road-map and refreshed identity that’s taken a Manchester staple to even greater heights. 

Put simply, Manchester isn’t Manchester without a morning trip to Federal. It’s the mecca of brunch spots, now attracting 40k Insta followers and queues of upto an hour (even on the drizzliest of days).

Frog x Bert. Narrative, visual ID & digital

David Jayet-Laraffe, Founder and Artistic Director at Frog, hand-picked us to become Frog’s branding agency.

We created every aspect of the identity, crafting narrative, visual and experiences to capture the unique spirit of the Frog team.

The hand-crafted logo, bold use of colour and playful art direction embody the studio’s unique blend of high-artistry and love for the unexpected. The brand helped Frog successfully launch new service ranges, including the opening of its first Selfridges store.

Cancer Research x Bert. Strategy, name and visual ID.

We won the competitive pitch to become Cancer Research UK’s branding agency for a campaign aimed at accelerating the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer globally.

CoCreation helped align stakeholders from multiple organisations, building a name, narrative and visual identity together. Our Re-Write Cancer campaign aims to alter cancer’s story, replacing uncertainty and fear with the confidence that a future free of cancer can be achieved for all within decades, if leading partners collaborate and concentrate resources effectively.
